Our Fine Dining Restaurant

Connoisseurs of great food and fine wine will find much to appreciate at Appleby Manor Hotel and Garden Spa. Our Chef changes his menus with the seasons and then has a tasting along with the management team to pair each of the dishes with a wine chosen from our extensive list.

You can choose from the wide range of imaginative and mouth-watering individually priced dishes on the menu in this award winning restaurant. The freshest ingredients are used, carefully selected from local suppliers wherever possible, and your chef takes a real pride in his work, catering for all tastes including plenty of choice for vegetarians. Our Fine Dining Restaurant is renowned for its high quality cooking, and you can be sure the skilled and dedicated kitchen team will offer plenty to tempt your taste buds, making your meals here truly memorable.

We operate a smart casual dress code for the restaurant (no shorts, vest, blue jeans or trainers)

1871 Bistro

The Bistro was created to complement our existing fine dining restaurant and has a more relaxed and informal feel, it also benefits from a fantastic outlook over the Eden Valley with views of Appleby Castle to the Lake District fells in the distance.

There are French doors which lead out onto our award winning gardens and patio. The atmosphere is intended to be relaxing, friendly and informal with good quality local produce at affordable prices, appetisers start from just £2.75, starters from £4.95 and main courses from just £11.95.

There is an emphasis on using locally sourced produce with Cumbrian Fell Bred, Lakes Speciality Foods, Appleby Creamery and Grapevine Wine Service among our suppliers.

The 1871 name was chosen to keep a link with the original Victorian manor house as it was built in this year. The room has been recently refurbished using local tradesmen and materials where possible with many reclaimed items such as the central down lights which have been sourced from the Concorde hangar.
