The most famous wine of all. Offered here are five which highlight the unique qualities of the finest Champagne. Fresh dryness, splendid bouquet, great delicacy and fine balance.

Dry and crisp, very refreshing, with a sparklingly elegant red-fruit flavour. 12% vol.

3 Moet & Chandon Brut Imperial Epernay, France £60.00
Medium weight and fruit with a good strong mousse. Moet & Chandon is the largest champagne merchant and grower. Take a trip round their extensive cellars if you get the chance. 12%vol.

5 Cuvee Dom Perignon Moet & Chandon Epernay, France 2000 £150.00
Fruit-driven aromas with toastiness peeping through very tightly-focused fruit on the palate. There is a huge concentration on the finish that promises to go biscuity, with some Christmas-cake complexity. 12.5%vol.


12 Freixenet Cordon Negro Brut, Cava Penedes, Spain £21.00
The popular black-bottle wine, made in the same way as Champagne but from three traditional grape varieties, blended with Macabeo and Parellada grapes, bringing a balance of fruit and flavour. 12%vol.

Not often seen in the UK, this is a wonderful dry, crisp and fresh wine,
ideal with most fish and seafood dishes 13%vol.

23 Paparuda Pinot Grigio Transylvania/Banat, Romania 2013 £19.95
Opulent aromas of grapefruit and peach follow through to the palate that offers a light body,
abundant melon, apple and citrussy finish. 12.5% vol

35 Domaine Lathuiliere Gravallon Beaujolais Blanc, France 2013 £26.00
Made from 100% Chardonnay grown on granite and limestone soil without the addition of chemical fertilizers or treatments, the wine is barrel fermented using indigenous wild yeasts to enhance complexity. Only 3000 bottles are produced each year. 13.5%vol

Clear straw colour, this delicious wine oozes ripe tropical fruit aromas with citric notes and subtle oak complexity. Intense and full bodied with good fruit depth, long finish and balanced acidity. 14.5%vol

A delightful round and smooth, slightly oaked white wine, full of tropical flavours from

47 Meursault Premier Cru Bitouzet Burgundy, France 2008 £60.00
Meursault is one of the world's greatest whites. Savoury, rich smoothness, dry, slightly nutty flavour and long, mellow finish. Great finesse and balance, with lemon, vanilla and almond flavours. 13.5%vol.


51 Grenache Blanche Du Bosc France 2012 £19.50
Clean dry white wine with a fine fruit bouquet, refreshing, leaving a light flavour at the finish 12% vol.

54 Vina Esmeralda Torres Penedes, Spain 2012 £19.95
Muscat (85%) and Gewurztraminer give intensely fruity and floral aromas of passion-fruit, ripe banana, rose and jasmine, with a hint of spices. Fresh, crisp and elegant with an aftertaste
of green apples. 11.5%vol.

55 Pfaffenhiem Black Tie Pinot Gris Alsace France 2009 £22.00
Wonderful blend of these two grape varieties making a very refreshing, quite aromatic medium bodied wine. Stunning on its own but really goes well with all white fish and shellfish dishes. 12.5% vol.

56 Mitchells Watervale Riesling Claire Valley Austrailia 2011 £26.50
Intense aromatic riesling fruit flavours are the hallmarks of this wine. It has a fine dry palate with a crisp acidity and long lingering fruit finish. Riesling from this area is renowned, and this wine is consistantly one of the claire valley's best. 13% vol.

The outstanding Domaine de Monthoux from Albert Bichot. Bursting with rich raspberry
Gamay fruit, soft purple-red colour, good character and length. 12.5%vol.

62 Valpolicella Superiore DOC Botter Veneto, Italy 2011 £21.50
A proper Valpolicella from the best sites and made to reasonable yields with a red-fruit & cherry nose and palate, fresh, stony fruit flavour and a bitter almond twist to the finish. 12.5%vol.

63 Kate Radburnd Pinot Noir, Wairarapa,  New Zealand            2012    £26.95
A classic Malborough amalgam of strawberry, raspberry, and black cherry all bound up in spicy French oak.
It has firm but soft tannins and a finish of sweet black fruits. 13.5%vol.


71 Domaine de Cibadies Merlot Red, Bordeaux, France 2012 £19.95
Lovely deep coloured Merlot full of woodland fruits and light tannins. Very easy drinking. 12.5%vol.

73 Santa Digna Cabernet Sauvignon Torres Curico, Chile 2011 £22.50
A clear ruby colour with spicy liquorice and blackcurrant flavours typical of the variety, and boasting a lazy, elegant aftertaste. A product of the Miguel Torres family. 13.5%vol.

75 Veroso Salento £22.50
A beautiful ruby colour with a typical Medoc style of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon and 35% Merlot. This wine displays elegant tannins with a hint of oak-ageing. 14%vol.

76 Chateau Sainte Gemme Haute Medoc 2009 £28.00
A well balanced wine revealing flavours of boysenberries, cherries and fleeting hints of white pepper. 13.5%vol.

77 Vina Real, Rioja Crianza, CVNE Rioja Alta, Spain 2010 £23.50
Tempranillo, Mazuela and Garnacha grapes, aged for one year in American oak. Ripe, plummy vanilla. Crianza means “nursing” - at least 2 years old (1 year in oak), not released before the 3rd year. 12.5%vol.

78 Brouilly Lathuiliere Gravallon Pisse-Vielle, France 2013 £27.00
One of the lighter wines of Beaujolais Cru boasting a full raspberry fruit flavour. Lively and clean yet still the most popular Beaujolais Cru. 13%vol.

A St. Emilion of class and elegance, aged partly in new oak barrels. Big jammy blackberry flavours from the Cabenet and Merlot mix, beautifully aged and ready to drink. 12.5% vol.

80 Chateau D'Agassac AC, Haut Medoc Bordeaux, France 2005 £50.00
Ruby and purple tints with red fruit aromas and plums and an elegant oaky touch. Full bodied with velvety tannins, an elegant structure for this Haut-Medoc. Toasted aromas with Kirsch notes. 13%vol.


92 Bon Courage Pinotage Robertson, South Africa 2012 £22.95
This truely South African wine features rich berries and plum flavours, finely balanced with well-integrated oak overtones. 14%vol.

94 Wente Southern Hills Cabernet Sauvignon USA 2010 £28.00
This Cabernet Sauvignon exhibits flavours of cherry, dark plum and a hint of coffee. Rich yet approachable tannins provide a long smooth finish. 13.5% vol.

95 Mitchell's Cabernet Sauvignon Clare Valley, South Australia 2005 £27.00
From the Clare valley, dark and deep, intense full blackberry fruit nose with some earthy complexity. Lots of oak and berry fruit-mulberry and cherry linctus with chocolaty sweet ripeness. Intensely long, not big and ripe like wines from the Barossa. Good tannin and acidity structure. 14%vol.

96 Vino Nobile di Montepulciano DOCG, Melini Tuscany, Italy 2009 £27.95
Impressive full-flavoured wine from the Sangiovese grape. Exuberant character and generous ripe-fruit flavours of cherry and plum. Similar to a top-quality Chianti. 13%vol.

97 Chateau Armandiere Ancestral Malbec Cahors, France 2011 £28.00
Intense aromas of ripe red berry fruits and well integrated new oak, giving hints of chocolate and vanilla. The palate is well balanced and elegant, with layers of ripe fruit and fine integrated tannins. Shows richness and complexity, with a long and persistant finish. 13.5%vol

Soft and fruity with delicious cherry berry fruit balanced with spice and a long finish. 13%vol.

99 Mitchell Peppertree Shiraz Clare Valley Austrailia 2009 £28.00
Bright Purple-crimson hue; dry-grown, hand picked estate grapes have produced a lovely wine, supple and smooth in the mouth, with a vibrant cherry and plum fruit, good oak and sweet tannins. The best peppertree vineyard shiraz to date. 14.5% vol

100 Chateau Musar Gaston Hochar Beka'a Valley, Lebanon 2004 £35.00
Serge Hochar deserves a medal for this wonderful wine - his vineyards were in the middle of the war zone in the Golan Heights. Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah blend bursting with ripeness. 13%vol.

122 Torres Moscatel Oro Catalunya Spain NV £20.95
Moscatel aromas of orange blossom, turkish delight and honeyed fruit, accompanied by delicious spicy notes of tabacco leaf and clove. Indugently sweet, with and enduring candied finish.
