Appleby In Westmorland

With all this breathtaking beauty around, you could be forgiven for overlooking Appleby itself. A climb to the top of Appleby Castle's 11th-Century Keep, for example, will reward you with a superb panorama. Gaze down on the rare breeds in the Conservation Centre, the Eden fishermen waiting for a bite, the old Moot Hall in the main street, which is central to Appleby's history, and the white-hatted ladies on the immaculate bowling green.
