From things to see and do in the Eden Valley, The Pennines, The Yorkshire Dales, North Yorkshire and lets not forget, the Lake District National Park. here are a few great attractions for couples or if you're staying with us as a family.

With the Ullswater Steamers and Rheged or the Settle-Carlisle railway, considered to be the most scenic railway in England you'll never be short of things to do when staying at Appleby Manor Hotel.

An all-weather, all year round attraction Rheged is named after Cumbria's Celtic Kingdom. Rheged is an international award winning visitor attraction, providing an excellent day out for all the family. It is Europe's largest grass-covered building- designed to resemble a Lakeland hill. Inside you will discover a cinema screen that's bigger than six double decker buses! There are 4 spectacular giant movies: Rheged - The Movie, Everest, Forces of Nature and Dolphins. There is also Everest - the Top of the World Exhibition The Helly Hansen National Mountaineering Exhibition, a restaurant and coffee shop and specialty shops / artists galleries offering the very best that Cumbria has to offer.

The Lake District Wildlife Park, Bassenthwaite Lake, Keswick

Set just ten minutes from Keswick. The Lake District Wildlife Park is an award-winning attraction, and the only wildlife park in the North of Cumbria. It offers a fun day out for all the family. You can wander around the 24 acre site and see over 100 species of animals ranging from Anacondas to Zebras, including Bird of prey flying displays that have been a regular feature since the park first opened. The park also offers unique experiences such as encounters with lemurs and meeting meerkats.

Ullswater Steamers

Ullswater Steamer where you can enjoy a magical trip and soak up the magnificent Lakeland scenery. The steamer tours up and down the Lake from Glenridding on Ullswater's southern shores, to the northern tip of Ullswater to Pooley Bridge. The small quaint villages around offer an array of restaurants and craft and souvenir shops.

Rookin House Farm, Troutbeck, Penrith

Rookin House is an established adventure venue in Cumbria, the Lake District and has been offering a wide variety of outdoor activities for over 20 years. Family owned and operated, Rookin House has a strong focus on both fun and safety. They offer a wide variety of activities from Horse Riding to Quad Biking to Human Bowling and the Madtrax All Terrain Vehicles.

world of beatrix potter bowness

World of Beatrix Potter Attraction, Bowness-on-Windermere

Say 'hello' to Peter Rabbit and friends including Miss Moppet, Timmy Tiptoes and Jemima Puddleduck. The family can enjoy a magical re-creation of all the sights and sounds of Beatrix Potter's books, complete with sights, sounds and smells. There is even a recreation of Mr McGregor's greenhouse. Learn more about the life of Beatrix Potter at the display of her Lakeland Farm: Hilltop and how it inspired her. There is also a shop with souvenirs and the Tailor of Gloucester Tearoom. Beatrix Potter's home: Hill Top is located at Far Sawrey in the Lake District, it is owned by the National Trust and is also open to the public.

Settle to Carlisle Railway

Appleby is on the scenic Settle to Carlisle Railway, connecting with the west coast main line. The Settle to Carlisle route is a must do when staying with us and encompasses many of Britain's best viaducts. Appleby railway station is just half a mile from the hotel.
